On the Rocks started like most great ideas start. Having great cocktails with friends on a Friday night in downtown Durango. Then the idea comes, and you say, "We should start a bar!" With time and great friends to encourage us, we decided to open a mobile bar.

 

After hours of thinking of what to name the bar, we narrowed our name down toa handful of choices including, On the Rocks. We decided to table the name decision for the time being and start looking for a horse trailer for our bar conversion. The trailer we purchased was home to a beautiful horse named Whiskey. There was a sign in the trailer that said, on the rocks. When we asked the owner what that was about, she told us that they called the trailer on the rocks and when they traveled with Whiskey, he was whiskey on the rocks. We knew at that moment our bar would be named, On the Rocks.

 

As for us, we are a husband and wife who have been in the wedding industry for many years catering, bartending, and most recently venue managers. Being in the service industry for most of our careers, we decided to continue doing what we love but making it ours and making it mobile!
